I’m sure you know this by now but, you can make money online. What you probably didn’t know is that its possible to quit your 9-5 job and make a full-time income online!

However, like everything in life, there are both pros and cons of working from home. I will list them down below.

Pros of working from home

1. Set your own hours
2. Work fewer hours & make more money
3. Choose your own clients
4. Zero commuting
5. Customized environment
6. Spend more time with family

Cons of working from home

1. No accountability
2. Lack of community
3. Income stability not guaranteed

As you can see, its a lifestyle that you have to choose between.  Some of us have a very hard time staying motivated at home.  Others thrive on being their own boss. You just have to know yourself!  You’ll make the right decision.

First on the list here is:

Blogging

A lot of people think that blogging is dead but, you can make a lot of money from it even now in 2020! When starting your blog, it’s important to have a niche or a specific category for your website.  For example, you can start a mommy blog, a healthy food blog, or even a finance blog.  The list is endless.  You will grow a much more stable and loyal audience when specializing in a niche versus a blog that’s just all over the place.

To be a full-time blogger not only do you have to love to write but, you have to know how to market.  I say about 80% of blogging is focused on building your audience and promoting your content.  Only a small 20% of your time is used to write content.  And it better be amazing content too!

There are many platforms that can be used to market your blogs such as Pinterest and Facebook.

Virtual Assistant

Now, this is something that I personally have not tried but have heard great things about it. The great thing about this position is that, in most cases, you are paid hourly. 

A virtual assistant does everything a normal assistant does, only remotely.  You could possibly work for an entrepreneur, a start-up company, or even a big-time company.

Remote Call center representative

Remote call representative positions are amazing. I absolutely love them!

It’s a little hard to find open positions because many people apply daily. But, once you land one, it’s such a relief to have a consistent check every week.

It’s becoming more common for local call centers to offer work from home positions.  In my home-town, there are two companies that offer work from home positions. 

If you are good at customer service and want to work from home, this is the position for you!  Since it is so popular, be sure to stay on the lookout for available positions on indeed and google daily.

Remote Sales positions

Sales is not for everyone. There is no other way to put it.  It can be frustrating at times to try to make a full-time income in sales.  Most, if not all, remote sales positions are commission only.  This means you can work for 4 hours straight but, if you don’t sell anything within those hours you do not get paid.

This may be a little extreme, but you get the point.

However, if you are good at sales, you can make a great income from it! 

Some remote sales positions are done all through the phone.  I had a position like this once.  I could schedule my own hours and could work as little or as much as I wanted in a week. Some weeks I would only make $80 and other weeks $200.  Keep in mind, I worked part-time, not full-time.  I was only looking for a little extra change on the side and was totally okay with only $200, since I didn’t put many hours in anyways.  If you put in the hours and are good at what you do, you can expect to be paid a lot more.

Other positions may be door to door.  So the company would send you a number of items to sell.  It would be your job to sell these products and you would receive a small percentage of each sale.

Freelance work (Fiverr, Upwork)

Everyone has talent to share.  Why not get paid for that talent?

As a freelancer, you have the opportunity to do just that.  If you’re good at hair, make-up, art, just about anything, you have the opportunity to sell your services.

You can advertise your services on good ol’ Facebook.  Or, you can use Fiver and Upwork, which are websites that are specifically made for freelance workers.

Personal Trainer

Being healthy is great. You look great, feel great, and just have more clarity.

But let’s face it, being healthy is also trendy and has been for a long while.

So, for those of you who naturally have that drive to stay fit, becoming a personal trainer is a great fit for you! Trust me, personal trainers make a ton of money.  Of course, to make the money you have to master marketing!

What’s great about this is that you do not have to leave your house.  You can have clients meet you right in your home.  It’s more comfortable for you and your client!  Many women choose to do this for their own comfortability or for religious reasons.  Believe me, not everyone likes the audience of a gym, myself included! (With today’s current crisis, I understand inviting people in your home is not ideal.  Don’t worry,  you can do video calls.  There’s no reason not have any virtual sessions!)

Home Daycare

(Edit: Would not recommend given the current situation, but hopefully sometime in the future)

Now this job can be a lot of fun.  A day full of sing-a-longs, dress up, coloring, and of course lots of learning! If you love children or even have children of your own, this could be a great career choice for you.

Now, anything dealing with children requires a lot of precaution. As far as home daycare is concerned, there are many permits that need to be considered.  Every state is different so make sure to do your own research for the state you reside in. 

If you are well known in your community, you can spread the news by word of mouth.  But if that’s not the case, no worries!  You can also spread the word using Facebook.

As far as marketing, you may want to consider getting a literary agent.  But, if you already have a large online presence this may not be necessary.

Dropshipping

Now I have tried dropshipping in the past but it wasn’t for me but it could be perfect for you!

Dropshipping is the process of selling products to customers straight from the manufacturer.  A lot of people stock up on supply from Ali Express and sell it for more than what they paid for.  Simply put, they are the middle man.

Shopify is a platform specifically made for those who wish to dropship.  Unfortunately, it is not completely free, but if you make enough profit, it will be worth it!

YouTuber

YouTube has grown so much over the past ten years.

A lot of people, including kids, are making a crazy amount of money on this platform.

YouTube is for everyone and anyone of all ages.

If you have something passionate to share, record it, it’s free.  This could be vlogging, cooking, art, there are no limits!
